170 / 5.000 Students of the Architecture Study Program of Udayana University and Tsinghua University held a joint interior lighting workshop and international community service in Tenganan Village.
The Undergraduate Program in Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, in collaboration with the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, China, held a Joint Interior Lighting Workshop, combined with International Community Service, in the Tenganan Pegringsingan Traditional Village, Karangasem Regency, Bali.
The week-long event, themed "Design and Build Lighting Workshop, Social Community Services, and Sharing Session," was attended by students and lecturers from both universities. The workshop focused on the practicalities of designing and building interior lighting systems using a collaborative and participatory approach, while prioritizing local cultural values and sustainability.
In addition to the academic sessions, the event also included international community service, involving students and lecturers assisting local communities in designing and installing interior lighting in several traditional pavilions (bale) and traditional houses in Tenganan Village.
The event concluded with a discussion and presentation of results, a sharing session between students from Udayana University and Tsinghua University, serving as a forum for reflection on field experiences and the exchange of cross-cultural ideas.
The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Architecture Study Program at Udayana University stated that this activity not only enriches students' academic competencies but also demonstrates a concrete contribution to preserving local architectural culture and empowering the community.
Representatives from the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University expressed their appreciation for this collaborative opportunity and their enthusiasm for exploring the unique and meaningful values of traditional Balinese architecture.
