Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University Holds Focus Group Discussion on OBE Curriculum Synergy Referring to Permendikbudristek Number 53 of 2023

The Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University (FT Unud) successfully held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled "Synergy of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum Referring to Permendikbudristek Number 53 of 2023 with Design, Assessment, and Research Roadmap of FT Unud." This event was held at Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort, Klungkung, and was attended by FT Unud officials, study program coordinators, TPPM, study program curriculum heads, UP3M, UP2M, and representatives from external institutions such as INSTIKI, Bali State Polytechnic, and Primakara University.

This FGD presented two main speakers who are competent in their fields. The first speaker was Dr. Ir. Syamsul Arifin, M.T., a member of the KPT Belmawa Dikti Team, KemendikbudRistek, as well as a permanent lecturer at ITS, Surabaya, and a member of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). The second resource person was Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., who serves as the Head of LP3M Udayana University.

This FGD aims to synergize the OBE (Outcome-Based Education)-based curriculum in the FT Unud environment with Permendikbudristek Number 53 of 2023. This regulation regulates the quality assurance of higher education which includes the assessment of the quality of the education process, internal quality assurance, and external evaluation by accreditation institutions. This regulation is designed to improve the quality of education services, sustainability, and relevance of institutions to the needs of the community.

The implementation of Permendikbudristek Number 53 of 2023 at FT Unud will begin in the Odd Semester of 2024-2025. With this FGD, it is expected that study programs in the FT Unud environment can design the OBE curriculum, especially for master's and doctoral programs. In addition, FGD participants are also encouraged to design the assessment of the process and achievement of graduate learning outcomes with the OBE approach, the formation of courses and weight calculations, and the preparation of Semester Learning Plans (RPS) based on the FT Unud research and community service roadmap.

The Dean of FT Unud, in his remarks, said that this FGD is an important step in ensuring that the curriculum that is prepared not only meets national standards, but is also relevant to the development of community and industry needs. "With this synergy, we hope that FT Unud graduates can compete on the national and international stage," he said.

This event is a strategic momentum for FT Unud to strengthen synergy between study programs in implementing the OBE curriculum and ensure that the curriculum implemented is in line with the education quality standards set by the government
