The Udayana University Engineering Doctoral Study Program held its 64th open doctoral session on Friday 16 February 2024. One of the most historic moments in the event was the brilliant achievement of I Nengah Simpen, who succeeded in obtaining a doctorate degree with the highest award.

The Postgraduate Hall located on the Udayana University Denpasar campus was a silent witness to this historic moment, where I Nengah Simpen received his doctoral degree in the presence of academics, family, friends, as well as researchers and industrial practitioners.

I Nengah Simpen achieved this extraordinary achievement by completing his dissertation entitled "Development of a Green Silica-Based Superbase-Superacid Hybrid-Nano-Composite Catalyst for One-Stage Biodiesel Production from Waste Cooking Oil". This dissertation describes a significant contribution in the development of environmentally friendly technology for efficient and sustainable biodiesel production from waste cooking oil.

In his research, I Nengah Simpen presents innovation by integrating hybrid-nano-composite catalyst technology which is able to increase the efficiency of converting waste cooking oil into biodiesel. Additionally, the green-silica-based approach used in this research shows a strong commitment to the development of environmentally friendly solutions.

I Nengah Simpen himself expressed his gratitude for this achievement, as well as thanks to all parties who have provided support during his academic journey. "I hope that this research can make a positive contribution to the development of technology and the environment in the future," he said enthusiastically.
