Civil Engineering of Udayana University Successfully Hosted ICGCEE 2023
The Department of Civil Engineering and Planning, State University of Malang as the host, collaborated with the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University and Warmadewa University to become the Co-Host at The 3rd International Conference on Green Construction and Civil Engineering Education (ICGCEE 2023) which was held on 8 – 10 August 2023 at Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur, Bali. This activity is a joint conference between ICCEE (International Conference on Civil Engineering Education) and GCEE (Green Civil and Environmental Engineering).
This activity was attended by more than 150 participants from various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, and the United States. The backgrounds of the participants also varied, such as academics, students, practitioners, researchers, and government institutions. The topics of scientific papers presented focused on sustainability and environmental issues such as waste management and green building management, sustainable technologies for road pavements, innovative structural designs for tall buildings and infrastructure, sustainable cities and structural/infrastructure processing architectural forensics.
On the first day, an opening ceremony was held which was accompanied by a Cenderawasih Dance performance by students of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. After that, the plenary session moderated by Prof. I Nyoman Arya Thanaya with keynote speaker Prof. Chikako Fujiyama from Japan and Prof. Mohd. Haziman Bin Wan Ibrahim from Malaysia. The activity continued with a parallel session and in the evening a Gala Dinner was held for all participants and committee, this activity was accompanied by music and dance from Civil Engineering students, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University.
On the second day, the conference was opened by a plenary session moderated by Apif Miftahul Hajji, Ph.D., with an invited speaker, namely Assoc. Prof. Yaghoob Amir Farnam from the United States and Assoc. Prof. Kariyadi from State University of Malang. The activity continued with a parallel session and closed with the announcement of the best presenter at the closing ceremony.
On the third day, a field trip was held to Penglipuran Village, Bangli. Participants also visited the Environmental Bamboo Foundation which is a community drive for landscape restoration and sustainable forests in Indonesia.
Civil Engineering at Udayana University also sent more than 15 presenters who presented their scientific research results, 3 of whom were students from class 2021 and 2022 at the Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University who also served as committee members. The three students presented the topic of using waste as a construction material. This is expected to provide experience for younger students interacting with participants in international activities.
