Master Plan of Udayana University Discussed in FGD

DENPASAR - The Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University held a focus group discussion (FGD) to discuss the Review of Udayana University Master Plan 2016-2026. The FGD was attended by experts, academics, and other elements.

Located in Rama Sintha Room, Inna Grand Bali Beach Sanur, the FGD was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic of Udayana University Prof. I Nyoman Gede Antara by presented two professional speakers Ir. I Wayan Gomudha and Popo Danes (Wenesday, May 5th 2021).

The Dean of Engineering Faculty Prof. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana said, this FGD was held to build and improve the condition of campus to make it better. This master plan review is needed to create an Udayana University that is compact, structured, and comfortable for student.

Prof. I Nyoman Gede Antara added, this master plan is needed as a work plan in early of 2022. Hopely the master plan can improve the arrangement of the campus, but it doesn't intersect with local communities. Prof. I Nyoman Gede Antara argued that, the arrangment and development have to harmonic and side by side with local communities. So the ecosystem in campus still sustainable.

Ir. I Wayan Gomudha in the discussion said that, the main problem in the Udayana University Master Plan is the condition of campus has been separated. The Faculty of Engineering, The Faculty of Agriculture, and The Faculty of Animals Husbandry are in the cluster. It will be very difficult to make an Udayana University that is compact and integrated. Ir. I Wayan Gomudha also added the problem of land acquisition currently does not full resolved. There are many private buildings and land around the campus.

The public road that currently divides and passes through Udayana University has spoiled the convenience of teaching and learning at the campus and has deviated from the previous master plan. It is immediately necessary to rearrange as a reference for future development.

Popo Danes convey that, in the making of master plan have to thinking the other aspects beside the campus interest. So the Udayana University also useful for local communities. Seen from the prospects, Udayana University should be a favorite campus. Because there in a region that incidentally visited by peoples from over the world. However this have to in line with adequate facilities.

Ir. I Wayan Gomudha and Popo Danes provide several solutions about the problems in creating an ideal master plan of campus. Ir. I Wayan Gomudha offers an equal or greater swap way over the issue of ownership building and private land around the campus. Popo Danes himself offers three alternative solutions that are using an electrical bus to ensure the safety of student when go to college, in line with the green building concept that is applied. Second, moving the campus to a new location, this will be save the development cost and ease in creating the ideal campus design. Third, continue the developing with a very high cost requirement.

The atmosphere in the FGD became tense when Prof. I Nyoman Gede Antara told to the experts to creating a more realistic master plan. In one side, both of experts offers an ideal long-term master plan with all the solutions of issues and make Udayana University be integrated, in other side, Prof. I Nyoman Antara wanted this master plan continue the existing development and immediately can be executed in early of 2022.

In the end of FGD Prof. I Nyoman Gede Antara invited to the experts to improvise as best as possible in making the Udayana University master plan, but also asked for a priority work master plan as initial development in 2022.
