Research and Community Service Seminar: Introduction to Best Practices in Organic Waste Processing from the University of Hawaii

The Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University held a seminar entitled Introduction to Best Practice in Processing Organic Waste Developed at the University of Hawaii. This event presented two expert speakers in the field of organic waste processing, namely Prof. Dr. Tjokorda Gde Tirta Nindhia, S.T., M.T. from the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University and Prof. Samir Khumar Khanal, Ph.D, P.E. from the University of Hawaii.


This seminar aims to introduce the best technology and methods in organic waste management that have been developed at the University of Hawaii. With increasing attention to environmental and sustainability issues, organic waste processing is becoming an increasingly important topic, both in academia and industry.


In his presentation, Prof. Tjokorda Gde Tirta Nindhia discussed the technical aspects and implementation of organic waste processing systems that can be applied in Indonesia, especially in Bali. He emphasized the importance of technological innovation to optimize waste processing into more useful products, such as organic fertilizers and renewable energy.


Meanwhile, Prof. Samir Khumar Khanal explained the experience and research that has been conducted at the University of Hawaii related to organic waste management. He explained various methods that have been proven effective in processing organic waste into alternative energy sources and other ecological benefits. With extensive experience in waste management research, he highlighted the importance of collaboration between academics and industry to achieve more efficient and sustainable solutions.


The seminar was attended by lecturers, students, and practitioners who have an interest in the environment and waste management technology. The interactive discussion allowed participants to dig deeper into the challenges and opportunities in organic waste management in Indonesia.


It is hoped that through this seminar, new insights in organic waste management can be applied in various sectors to create a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
