The Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, signed an MoU with GSSE Ibaraki University, Japan, including an international guest lecture.
The Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University (Unud) has further strengthened its international network by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Graduate School of Science and Engineering (GSSE), Ibaraki University (IU), Japan. This event, coupled with an International Guest Lecture featuring leading academics from Ibaraki University and Udayana University, was attended by enthusiastic participants from the academic community.
The signing of this MoA marks a significant milestone in the development of academic cooperation between the two institutions, particularly in education, research, and human resource development at the postgraduate and doctoral levels. Through this agreement, the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University and GSSE Ibaraki University are committed to fostering sustainable collaboration, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and strengthening internationally recognized academic programs.
The series of events continued with a Guest Lecture, opened by Prof. Dr. Masafumi Fujita, Vice Chair of the International Exchange Committee, College of Engineering, Ibaraki University, who presented on the Global and Local Environment Co-creation Institute (GLEC). In his presentation, Prof. Fujita emphasized the importance of global and local collaboration in addressing environmental challenges, as well as the role of higher education institutions in creating sustainable solutions through a cross-disciplinary approach.
Next, Prof. Dr. Shigeki Takeda, Chair of the Doctoral Program Committee, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Ibaraki University, delivered a presentation on the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Ibaraki University, focusing on the Doctoral Program. This presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the program structure, research opportunities, and mentoring schemes offered to international students, including potential collaborations with the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University.
The next presentation was delivered by Prof. Makoto Tamura, who reviewed JV-Campus (Integrated Climate Change Science in the ASEAN Region, Graduate-Level On-Demand Courses via JV-Campus). In his presentation, Prof. Tamura explained the graduate-level online learning platform focused on climate change issues in the ASEAN region, as well as the opportunities for utilizing JV-Campus as a platform for collaborative learning and strengthening international academic networks.
In closing, Prof. Dewa Made Priyantha Wedagama, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Doctoral Program, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, delivered a presentation on the development of the Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. He emphasized that the collaboration with Ibaraki University is expected to improve the quality of doctoral education, expand international research collaboration, and support the achievement of the Faculty of Engineering's vision as a leading and globally competitive institution.
Through the signing of the MoA and the holding of this Guest Lecture, the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, affirmed its commitment to strengthening the internationalization of higher education and opening up opportunities for strategic collaboration that will provide tangible benefits for future academic and research development.
