Information Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University (FT Unud), Initiates Collaboration with BRIN for the Development of Smart Tourism in Bali

The Information Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University (FT Unud), has initiated a collaboration with the Research Center for Data Science and Information—part of the Electronics and Informatics Research Organization under the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). This partnership focuses on research, digitalization, and the development of cultural and tourism information platforms—leveraging digital visualization, intelligent systems, and immersive technologies—to support the advancement of "smart tourism" in Bali.

This initiative serves as a strategic step for the Information Technology Study Program at FT Unud to strengthen collaboration between higher education institutions and national research bodies, specifically regarding the development and application of information technology within the tourism sector. The partnership has been formalized through a Cooperation Agreement between the BRIN Research Center for Data Science and Information and the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Esa Prakasa, M.T., Head of the BRIN Research Center for Data Science and Information (as the First Party), and Prof. Ir. Linawati, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University (as the Second Party).

The scope of the collaboration encompasses research, digitalization, and the development of cultural and tourism information platforms utilizing digital visualization, intelligent systems, and immersive technologies. This development is expected to foster innovation in how Bali’s cultural and tourism information is presented, through the use of technology that is interactive, informative, and adaptive to digital advancements.

Through this initiative, the Information Technology Study Program at FT Unud aims to bolster its contribution to research and technological innovation, while simultaneously promoting the application of research findings to address the needs of the public and the tourism industry. Furthermore, this collaboration with BRIN creates opportunities for enhancing academic competencies, facilitating knowledge exchange, and conducting joint research focused on the practical application of technology. This partnership represents a commitment by the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University to foster synergy between the academic sphere and national research institutions. By leveraging scientific expertise and competencies in the field of information technology, this collaboration is expected to make a tangible contribution to digital transformation and the development of sustainable smart tourism in Bali.
