The Architecture Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, and Kansai University Conduct an International Community Service Project in Singaraja.

The Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University, through its Architecture Study Program, conducted an international community service initiative in collaboration with Kansai University, Japan. The program took place from August 15 to 26, 2026, at the Widhya Asih Singaraja Child Welfare Institution (LKSA) in Buleleng Regency, Bali.

This international service initiative was themed "International Community Service between Kansai University and Architecture Program-Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University: Creating a Safe and Comfortable Environment for the Children of the Widya Asih Singaraja Orphanage through Landscape Design and Library Renovation, as well as Providing English Language Training and Cultural Activities for Students of Mutiara Kindergarten, Elementary, and Junior High School in Singaraja."

Through this initiative, the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University and Kansai University collaborated to contribute to the community by integrating architectural, educational, and cultural approaches. A primary focus of the program was to create a safe and comfortable environment for the children at the Widhya Asih Singaraja institution through landscape design and library renovation.

Landscape design played a crucial role in creating a more comfortable space that supports the children's activities. Meanwhile, the library renovation aimed to provide a better learning environment, thereby facilitating reading and the learning process for the children at the Widhya Asih Singaraja institution.

In addition to activities focused on the built environment, the service program included English language training and cultural activities for students from Mutiara Kindergarten, Elementary, and Junior High School in Singaraja. These activities served as a means to introduce English language learning while fostering interaction and the exchange of knowledge and culture between participants from Indonesia and Japan.

This international collaboration also provided an opportunity for the academic community to apply their knowledge and expertise directly within the community. By adopting a community-needs-based approach, the service initiative aimed not only to bring about physical changes to the environment but also to provide valuable educational experiences for the children and the participants involved. This partnership between the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University and Kansai University represents a form of higher education contribution toward community development while simultaneously strengthening international academic ties. It is hoped that this cross-border collaboration will continue to flourish through various initiatives in education, research, and community service.

By integrating the fields of architecture, language education, and culture, this international community service initiative aims to deliver tangible benefits to the people of Singaraja. It also serves as a collaborative experience that fosters a spirit of knowledge sharing and helps create an environment that is safer, more comfortable, and supportive of children's development.
