The Faculty of Engineering of Udayana University Assists in the Preparation of a Clean Water System in the Traditional Village of Amertasari Pegayaman

The Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University once again demonstrated its commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through community service activities, including training and coordination for the preparation of a clean water system in Amertasari Traditional Village, Pegayaman Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency. This activity was held on May 24, 2026, as part of the Global Grant #2685887 Batugunung–Amertasari Clean Water Project.

The clean water system construction program is a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Bali Taman District 3420 as host sponsor, the Rotary Club of Yongin District 3600 Korea as international sponsor, and the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University as technical advisor. This activity aims to help the community of Amertasari Traditional Village gain access to better and more sustainable clean water services.

Amertasari Traditional Village, located at the foot of Mount Mangu, has a geographical setting consisting of hills and valleys, with a population of approximately 150 families spread across the village area. Despite the presence of several springs in the area, clean water services to the community remain suboptimal due to limited funding and technical knowledge.

Through a collaboration between Rotary and the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University, the construction of a clean water system began to be structured. The Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University was responsible for system planning, outreach, training, community mentoring, and system evaluation, in accordance with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreed upon by both parties.

The training and coordination activities involved community leaders such as the Traditional Village Head (Bendesa Adat), Hamlet Head (Kepala Desa Adat), Pekaseh (Pekaseh), stakeholders, and the local community. The meeting took place at the Banjar Hall of Amertasari Traditional Village, located near the Turyapada area. During the event, the Faculty of Engineering team from Udayana University provided explanations about the clean water piping system, standard operating procedures, and the practice of connecting pipes and installing HDPE accessories.

In addition to providing technical training, the event also resulted in a mutual agreement regarding the location of the piping system installation and a collaborative work mechanism between the community and the assistance of the Faculty of Engineering team at Udayana University. The community is expected to understand the clean water system construction process so that construction can proceed smoothly without creating social or technical obstacles.

This community service activity demonstrates the tangible contribution of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, to supporting the development of basic community infrastructure, particularly providing adequate and sustainable access to clean water for the people of Amertasari Pegayaman Traditional Village.
