Udayana University's Faculty of Engineering Strengthens Its Progress Toward Global Standardization by Strengthening CPL and International Accords

The Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University successfully held a Workshop on Strengthening the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Engineering Education System at the Grand Shanti Hotel in Denpasar on Saturday (July 18th). This event was specifically held to improve the quality of curriculum governance and prepare various engineering study programs for international standardization. This strategic effort was undertaken to support the achievement of IABEE international accreditation and the implementation of the Washington Accord, Sydney Accord, and Seoul Accord.

The workshop featured two competent speakers directly from IABEE to thoroughly explore the outcomes-based education system. In the first session, Ir. Berlian Kushari, S.T., M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., presented material on the IABEE international accreditation instruments and strategies for implementing OBE in engineering study programs. The second session was led by Ir. Arief Syaichu Rohman, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., who focused on evaluating the achievement of Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL), student outcomes, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

In his presentation on curriculum evaluation, Ir. Arief Syaichu Rohman offered a profound philosophical note to the participants. "What's important isn't necessarily measurable, and what can be measured isn't necessarily important," emphasized the second speaker from IABEE, explaining the dynamics of developing evaluation instruments. This powerful message reminded study program leaders not to get caught up in the administrative formalities of measurement, but rather to focus on the essence of quality and the substance of the skills truly needed by students.

Through panel discussions and sessions sharing best practices, the workshop successfully formulated concrete recommendations and a Follow-Up Plan (RTL) for faculties. Attended by Heads of Study Programs and Quality Assurance Implementation Teams (TPPM) from Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Information Technology, Industrial, and Environmental Engineering, this activity is expected to be a major stepping stone in developing a globally recognized CPL and curriculum.
