Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, and Rotary International Create Resilient Villages with Clean Water in Bali

The Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, has once again demonstrated its commitment to community service through active involvement in a sustainable clean water provision program supported by the Rotary Club of Bali Taman District 3420 and the Rotary Club of Yongin District 3600 of South Korea. The program, part of Rotary's Global Grant program, was implemented in two locations: Batugunung Traditional Village, Karangasem Regency, and Amertasari Traditional Village, Buleleng Regency. Activities included technical assistance in the construction of piping systems, reservoirs, spring catchment structures (broncaptering), water distribution, and training in system operation and maintenance for the local community.


The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, Prof. Ir. Linawati, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, along with the Faculty of Engineering Community Service Team, lecturers, and students, led by Dr. Ir. Made Suarda, M.Eng., conducted site surveys, technical planning, construction assistance, and knowledge transfer to the community. Following several weeks of site surveys and technical planning, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, assistance and construction were provided by deploying community service teams to Batugunung Traditional Village, Karangasem Regency, and Amertasari Traditional Village, Buleleng Regency. Through a participatory approach, village communities were directly involved in the construction process, ensuring not only access to clean water but also the ability to independently manage and maintain the system. This program represents a concrete implementation of the synergy between universities, international organizations, and the community.


The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, Prof. Ir. Linawati, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, stated that this program embodies the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through the application of science and technology to meet community needs. Through collaboration with the Rotary Club of Bali Taman and the Rotary Club of Yongin Korea, the Faculty of Engineering supports the provision of sustainable access to clean water while strengthening the role of faculty and students in community service that has a real impact. This activity also supports the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) through the involvement of the academic community in solving community problems and expanding the international cooperation network of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University.
